Andrew Paul Meeder
Born 1966, Chicago, I

My work was once described by a critic as ‘Bi-polar Expressionism’. This has always stuck as the genre of mywork - sometimes calm and peaceful, other times angry and aggressive. The images that make their way onto the canvas are not premeditated, and are very much a progression of emotion and ideas. Some pieces take a few days to reach their end, and others may be painted over many times, for months. As the moment changes, so does my work. When I get to a place where I feel the emotion or the idea was accurately recorded, that’s when I stop myself. I don't believe in labored explanations of my art - that is for the viewer to decipher and understand. My work occupies space in private collections across the country as well as Europe and Asia.
